Thyroglossal Duct Cyst: Ethanol Ablation Therapy PEI for Adults and Children.

1. The old standard therapy for TGD cyst is surgery.

2. However there may be patients who do not want surgery for the fear of the scar or surgical post op complications.

3. PEI of a TGD cyst is done in a few minutes with no hospitalization and no scar.

4. Adults and children with TGD cysts are candidates for ethanol ablation instead of surgery.

5. Adults may need a FNA biopsy to make sure there is no thyroid cancer in the cyst wall before the PEI.
