Efficacy and Safety of Ultrasound-Guided Radiofrequency Ablation for Parathyroid Adenoma.

Dr.Guttler’s comments:

  1. The imaging of the PHPT nodules should include  the shape, margin, size, composition, and location, were evaluated before treatment.

  2. Parathyroid Adenoma  labeled  “PTH”  seen before the RFA therapy to assess location related to other structures.
  3. Complete ablation can be obtained with RFA in most cases with one session.

  4. Recurrent nerve temporary injury can occur but rare when cold dextrose water is used during the treatment.

  5. US-guided RFA is effective and safe for PTA patients.

  6. RFA may be an alternative treatment for patients who cannot tolerate or refuse to undergo surgery.
