Many of you are still seeing me to make sure your thyroid care for nodules, goiter, cancer and hormone dosing is adjusted as needed by 6-12 month check ups.
-
Many have moved to general physicians in their network.
-
Many have not had a dose change study for over 5 years.
-
Many have never had a complete thyroid evaluation since you saw me.
-
When is the last time you had your thyroid palpated or imaged with ultrasound? Many patients know it was when they last saw me even years ago.
-
There is a need for 6-12 month thyroid evaluation for patients with goiter, nodules and thyroid cancer.
-
If you are not satisfied with your present thyroid care because you are not evaluated during your in and out medical visits, please consider returning to see me.
-
If you are seeing a general endocrinologist in your plan, and they are not thyroidologists but “diabetic” endocrinologists with little first hand experience treating thyroid patients consider returning for a re-evaluation and detailed thyroid studies.
-
Many general endocrinologists have outdated ideas on how to treat you.
-
Many have no idea of alternative treatment with ethanol and radiofrequency ablation for nodules and thyroid cancer and refer you for surgery.
-
Inadequate concern for proper thyroid hormone dosing and follow up for nodules and cancer is understandable when busy primary care and local general endocrinologists face a waiting room full of patients everyday.
-
Thyroid Hormone therapy dose decreases with age, and if there is no change in your dose for many years you may be overdosed. This can lead to heart and bone problems.
-
Inadequate replacement therapy can lead to subclinical hypothyroidism.
-
Both low and high can decrease your quality of life.
