DR. Brittany Henderson endocrinologist does over 100 biopsies a year.

 Dr.Guttler’s comments.

  1. Your primary is not qualified to do a complete endocrine evaluation.
  2. They should not decide you need a biopsy.
  3. They should not send you to a  surgeon or a radiology department for the biopsy.
  4. Insist on seeing an thyroidologist/endocrinologist for evaluation first.
  5. Over 100 ECNU certified endocrinologists are listed in AACE.com website. Todd Frieze D,FACP, ECNU and Jonathon Leffert are two endocrinologists doing many biopsies a year.

  7. There are many reasons that you may not need for a biopsy.
  8. Many nodules are too small or have an ultrasound pattern which is benign  and no biopsy is needed.
  9. Recent studies show endocrinologists are better at obtaining an adequate sample for diagnosis than radiologists.
  10. Endocrinologists do their own neck ultrasounds. They evaluate to lateral neck looking for suspicious lymph nodes.
  11. Finding a suspicious lymph node changes the biopsy procedure to include the lymph node.
  12. Endocrinologists are more likely to obtain smears instead of thin prep.
  13. If an indeterminate result thyroidologists/endocrinologists are just as good as radiologists in obtaining molecular markers.
  14. Call me before the biopsy!
